“If I could wrap up the joy that music gives me, put it in a box, and give it to each student, I would! When I see students begin to understand the joy of music for themselves, I feel that I’ve accomplished my purpose.”

Lydia Culpepper - Cumming, GA Piano Teacher

From a very early age, I was fascinated with music, and people playing music. Singers, pianists, choirs, I loved it all. So, after learning to play piano as a child, I looked forward to studying music in college. I received a music degree from Lee University, and went on to receive a Master’s in Music from the University of Memphis.

Always wanting to learn more, I studied Jazz Piano with Atlanta’s well-known Kevin Bales for several years. I’ve been privileged to perform as a pianist in many different settings, and play in many different styles: Classical recitals, Choral Concerts (Accompanying on piano), Church Services, Weddings, Funerals, and Events around Atlanta (jazz standards, pop music).

I’ve been teaching for over 20 years now, and still, my favorite thing is to see that moment of discovery in a student’s eyes, and to see the pride a student feels when they make music their own!
